Frequently Asked Questions
EYELASH EXTENSIONS
How long do eyelash extensions last and when should I book my refills?
Extensions will last you up to 6 weeks before they all completely fall off if you wish to have them applied as a one-off for a special occasion. Should you decide to continue getting extensions, it is recommended that you book refills within 2-3 weeks and with atleast 40% of your lashes remaining in tact. It is our salon policy that you follow these instructions as it reduces your overall expenses from new sets overtime!
Why do my lashes have poor retention?
If your lashes are less than 40% of your full set before the 2-3 week mark, first ensure you have followed all the advised aftercare procedures:
-
Be extra gentle with your lashes
-
Avoid water around the eye area, steam, excessive sweat in the first 24 hours from appointment
-
Using our cleanser, cleanse your lashes at least once a day
Do extensions damage your natural lashes?
No, at NJ Lashes we recommend a length and thickness suitable to your needs and preferences. We take careful consideration to the weight of the extensions your natural lashes can handle.
Can I wear eye makeup with my eyelashes extension?
Absolutely! Makeup can be worn any time as long it is 24 hours after your appointment. You want to avoid and minimise the exposure to water to allow enough time for the glue to set before having to remove the makeup from an event or night out.
How can I remove eye makeup with extensions?
Use an oil-free, glycol-free, lash-safe makeup remover, our trusty lash cleanser can be used to remove your makeup. Any oil based products will break down the lash adhesive and using cotton pads to remove your makeup will cause the extensions to fall off prematurely. Once you have removed your makeup with a suitable remover, to finish off we recommend our cleansers at NJ Lashes to safely remove any excess build up of dirt commonly found in hard to reach areas between lashes.
LASH LIFT AND TINT
How long does lash lift last and does it make a dramatic difference to your lashes?
Lash lifts last anywhere between 6-8 weeks with proper care. How quickly they appear to lose their curl will vary person to person based on how quickly your natural lashes tend to shed. Short or long, thick or thin, lash lifts can make a noticeable difference. Mascara can be applied after 24 hours after the appointment if you’re looking to create a more dramatic and fuller lashes, and the number of layers is completely up to you!
Can my lashes be lifted when I book for extensions?
Lash lifts will impact the alignment and overall appearance of your extensions so it is recommended that you wait a minimum of 6 weeks before you book for a full set of extensions or until they completely lose their curl to achieve best results.
BROW LAMINATION
Have naturally sparse brows can lamination and tint still make them appear fuller?
Of course! While lamination can make your brow hairs more aligned and visible, tint will also stain the skin in the shape you desire in the process, ultimately to make them appear fuller. On top of that, the serum applied for lamination will allow for long term benefits such as increase hair growth and strengthen your natural brow hairs.
THREADING
Is threading safe for sensitive skin?
How often should I book for threading? Facial hair regrowth is different between each individual, however, clients typically book every two to three weeks to maintain clean shaped brows.
Microblading
How long does it last?
Microblading can last anywhere between 1-2 years. It is semi-permanent so we advise that you book a touch up at least every 12 months to maintain the colour and shape.
Is microblading painful?
Some clients feel slightly uncomfortable and others little to no pain at all. A strong topical anaesthetic cream is always applied 45 minutes prior to each treatment and amid the procedure as we take any necessary precaution throughout to ensure our clients undergo the treatment as pain free as possible.
Will it be painful afterwards?
Soreness will linger within the first few hours, however will remain tender for the next couple days to one week depending on the individuals ability to heal.
